The people behind it

Meet the makers

The line-up covers a lot of ground across the Barossa and Eden Valley: Arila Gardens, Bloc Wines, Bosward Wines, Bruno & George, Mecklen Wines, Teusner Wines, The Angry Rabbit, Thorn-Clarke, Tim Smith Wines and Tribus Wines.

Rounding out the range is So Gin, the collective’s own spirit: small-batch gin and vodka made in the Barossa by chef and founder Stuart Oldfield.

The problem

Ten makers, each with its own story to tell.

What makes the collective interesting is how different the producers are: Arila Gardens, Bloc Wines, Bosward Wines, Bruno & George, Mecklen Wines, Teusner Wines, The Angry Rabbit, Thorn-Clarke, Tim Smith Wines and Tribus Wines, plus So Gin, made in the Barossa by chef and founder Stuart Oldfield.

Each maker has its own story, and the store had to tell it, then price a single bottle and a mixed dozen properly at checkout.

The solution

A page for every maker, and shipping priced for the real order.

Every maker has its own page with the story behind the label, who makes it, when it started and what it is known for, followed by the wines themselves. Shoppers who know what they like, rather than who made it, can browse by varietal instead.

Shipping was the part we spent the most time on. Rather than a flat guess, the checkout pulls live rates from the carrier for the actual order and address. The store also carries the cellar-door details, a newsletter sign-up, email flows in Klaviyo and an age check on entry, as a licensed liquor retailer needs.
