The people behind it

Meet Neil

Neil quotes the job, builds the gate and hangs it himself. Most of his gates are hardwood, and spotted gum is his go-to, oiled to protect it; steel goes in where it suits the job.

He also fits swing and sliding gate motors, keypads and remotes, and does rural, farm and house fencing, so a whole entrance can be one job.

The problem

Every gate is made for one opening.

Neil moved from Melbourne to Angaston during COVID, swapped a desk job for building gates and fences, and now makes timber and steel gates to fit one opening at a time.

His gates are the best case for his work, and every one is made for a particular gateway, so the website had to show the work and make it easy to describe the opening.

The solution

Bold and photo-led, because his gates are the best case for his work.

Neil’s new website went live on 28 September 2026. We made it bold and photo-led: a full-width hero, photo tiles for gates, fencing and automation, big galleries of his real jobs, and a map of the towns he covers, from Kapunda and Nuriootpa to Mount Pleasant, Birdwood and Hahndorf.

The quote form asks for the opening width and takes a photo or sketch of the spot, which is the fastest way to a price. Neil can update the photos and text himself, and the site sits on his own domain with professional business email.

Clicks and impressions: the client’s own Google Search Console. Non-branded leaves out searches for the business name. Enquiries: forms plus calls and emails tapped from the website, from our client portal; calls and emails are counts only until tracking covers two full periods. Form % only where the earlier period had 3 or more; rises and drops are both shown. CTR (click-through rate) is clicks ÷ impressions: how often people who see the listing on Google choose it. When impressions fall but clicks, forms or CTR rise, the impressions change is shown in grey, not red. Results vary by business and market.
