A writer whose address is a campervan.

Colleen Moyne writes poetry, memoir and stories while travelling South Australia and beyond in a campervan called Trevor. Here’s her work, and the website she runs from the road.

Most of the businesses we build for have a shopfront or a workshop. Colleen Moyne has a campervan called Trevor and a greyhound called Winter. She is a South Australian author and poet who lives and travels full-time, and her website, Colleen Moyne, South Australian author and poet, has to work from wherever the van happens to be parked.

Poetry first, then everything else

Poetry was Colleen’s first love, and it has stayed. Memoir, travel writing, short fiction, crime and horror arrived along the way, mostly while moving. Her poems and stories have appeared in over 50 anthologies worldwide, and her work has been adapted for radio and audio.

Two collections are out through Ginninderra Press. Time Like Coins (2018) is her first solo collection, one that finds the extraordinary sitting quietly inside ordinary days. Called to Coddiwomple (2023) is a memoir in poetry and prose that follows her from memories of family and country South Australia to the start of her nomadic life in Trevor. To coddiwomple is to travel purposefully toward an as-yet-unknown destination, which, as her homepage puts it, is more or less the plan. A third book, working title Van Life Stories, is taking shape on the road.

Workshops wherever the road goes

Colleen has established writers’ groups and delivered writing courses, workshops, mentoring and creative-writing sessions for adults and children, for libraries, schools, community groups and writers’ groups. She also gives author talks and readings about the books and life on the road. There is no fixed timetable, so everything is arranged by enquiry through her writing workshops and author talks page, and the earlier you ask, the easier it is to line up with her route.

A site she runs herself

The brief was a personal, literary site that gives each book room to breathe. Every title has its own page with the publisher details and a way to ask for a signed copy. A Postcards from the Road gallery carries her own photographs of Trevor, Winter and the places the van has pulled up, and visitors can load her Facebook writer page feed right on the homepage.

The piece we’re most pleased with is the News & Stories journal. Colleen updates it herself through a simple self-serve editor, so travel notes, writing updates and events can go up from wherever she is, without waiting on a developer.

Colleen’s own verdict, from her Google review, was that we “did an amazing job designing the website and led me through the whole process with ease.”

If you run a library, school or writers’ group, or you’d simply like a signed copy, Colleen answers her own email. You can see more of the build in our portfolio.
