From no website to #1 on mobile for “mobile welding adelaide”: Iron Works Mobile Welding.
In late March 2026 Iron Works had no website, a quiet Facebook page and no real handle on its Google Business Profile. Seven months on, searched from Adelaide on 23 October 2026, it was #1 on mobile (#4 on desktop) for “mobile welding adelaide”, and the enquiries keep coming. Rankings move with the day, the device and where you search from. Here is how we did it, step by step.

Iron Works Mobile Welding & Fabrication is Sean McCarthy’s business, locally owned and operated from Mount Pleasant. Sean does on-site welding and machinery repairs, custom fabrication, and steel sheds, carports, pergolas and verandahs, across the Adelaide Hills, the Barossa, the Murraylands and Adelaide. You can find him at Iron Works Mobile Welding & Fabrication.

Where we started
When Sean came to us in late March 2026, there was nothing to build on. No website. A Facebook page that wasn’t doing much. A Google Business Profile, but no real idea how to set it up so people could find it. No reviews and no search history. Work came from word of mouth, and that was it.
That’s a common spot for a new trade business in the Barossa and the Hills. You’re good at the job, but online you don’t exist yet.
How we did it
A website built to win work. The site went live in early April 2026 with clear pages for on-site repairs, farm and machinery welding, fabrication, sheds, carports, pergolas and verandahs. Every page has a call button and a quote button, and the quote form takes photos so Sean can see the job first.
A tool that does the quoting legwork. We built a 3D Shed & Carport Designer into the site. Customers draw up their shed, see it in 3D and send the plans straight to Sean. In October one customer designed their own 6 × 9 m shed and sent it through, ready to quote.
Pages for the towns Sean works in. People search for a welder by town, so the site has pages for Mount Pleasant, Mount Barker, the Adelaide Hills, Adelaide, Gawler, Nuriootpa, Tanunda, Angaston, Murray Bridge, Mannum and Strathalbyn, each written around how locals search.
His Google Business Profile, set up properly. We sorted his categories, services and hours, and we post updates to it, so Google knows exactly what Iron Works does and where.
Facebook and Instagram pulling their weight. His Instagram is linked from every page of the site, we made a shed sale image and video for his socials and ran Instagram ads, and his Facebook feed shows on the website.
Google told about every page. We set up Google Search Console, submitted the sitemap and asked Google to index each new page as it went live, then watched which searches each page started to show up for.
A push on sheds, carports and pergolas. On 19 October we added shed builder pages for the Barossa Valley and Mount Pleasant, three new guides (buying a shed kit or built, carport or garage shed, and council rules for a shed in the Barossa), and sharpened the titles on the shed, carport and pergola pages. Those are the bigger jobs, so they get the extra attention.
Enquiries that reach Sean, not the bots. Once the site took off, so did the spam. Enquiries now arrive as branded emails with a spam filter, a pre-filter stops the bot flood before it reaches Sean, and a text reminder goes out for each new lead so none get missed.
The results
Enquiries. 22 enquiries came through the website in 30 days, from 20 September to 20 October 2026: 6 quote requests through the form and 16 taps to call or email from the site, with spam, sales pitches and our own tests left out. On top of that, 10+ more came through Facebook Messenger and phone calls since mid-August.
Google rankings. Searched from Adelaide on 23 October 2026, Iron Works was #1 on mobile and #4 on desktop for “mobile welding adelaide”, and #2 for “mobile welder adelaide” in Google’s web results. Search Console has its average position for “mobile welder adelaide” at 5.0 over the 28 days to 21 October. The Adelaide map box goes to welders based in the city, so Iron Works wins on the web results instead. Closer to home, it was #1 on Google Maps for “mobile welder” and “welding services” at all 9 points of our grid around Mount Pleasant on 13 October 2026, and #4 in the web results for “shed builder mount pleasant” on 23 October.
Clicks from Google. 98 clicks in the 28 days to 21 October 2026, up from 69 in the 28 days to 18 September, and up from 28 in the site’s first four weeks of Search Console data in May. Click-through rate rose from 1.2% to 2.0%. Google itself flagged the milestone on 20 October: 100 clicks in 28 days.
The best result of all is Sean’s: the work kept coming, and he has hired another team member to keep up with it.
